The New York State Summer School of the Arts provides over 400 of New York’s talented students the opportunity for advanced study in the visual and performing arts fields. NYSSSA is comprised of seven component schools: Theater, Ballet, Modern Dance, Orchestral Studies, Choral and Vocal Studies, Visual Arts, and Media Arts. The summer arts program offers highly competitive pre-professional training to promising artists from a variety of disciplines.
Students are accepted into the schools through a competitive audition and review process conducted by the artistic staff. Due to the nature of the 2021 program, tuition will be free for all students, enabling every student who qualifies the opportunity to participate in the program. Audition information and application materials are available on the NYSSA website.
Though usually experienced as a four-week residential arts program, NYSSSA staff have adapted the curriculum due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
