Akello is a Ugandan singer-songwriter who sings in several East African languages; Swahili, Luganda, English and her mother tongue – Acholi. Hailing from Northern Uganda she survived a 25-year civil war with the infamous Joseph Konys Lords Resistance Army (LRA) rebel group. Forced to move into refugee camps, her family fled to the suburbs of the country’s capital, Kampala. Joining her on stage is Kinobe, whose music has been described as some of the most exquisite music coming out of Africa today.
